The Diavik Diamond Mine is an unincorporated joint venture between Diavik Diamond Mines Inc (60 per cent ownership) and Harry Winston Diamond Mines Ltd. (40 per cent ownership).  Both companies are headquartered in Yellowknife, Canada. Diavik Diamond Mines Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Rio Tinto plc, one of the world's leading mining and exploration companies.  Harry Winston Diamond Mines Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Harry Winston Diamond Corporation of Toronto, Canada.  Diavik Diamond Mines Inc. manages the construction of and assumes project responsibility for the mine.
