Volunteer Experience: Dene Games and various sports with youth.
I grew up in the Dehcho Region, in a small community along the Mighty Dehcho, called Pehdzeh Ki. (Wrigley in English) Growing up I could speak my Dene Zhahti which is my language, also a lot of people including my family still practiced the traditional ways and our culture was strong. That’s where I learned how to hunt, trap, sing drum songs and play hand games. Drumming and Hand games were a big part of growing up in my small community just like hunting and trapping.
I left for High school in 88, going up the river to Fort Simpson at Thomas Simpson High school. I’ve worked for recreation dept ever since summer of 89 so in 1993 I left for Aurora College to take the Recreation Leadership Program.
Currently I work for the Zhahti Koe Friendship Centre in Fort Providence and have been here since May, 09.
