Tony Rabesca was born and raised in Behchoko (Rae-Edzo). For the past 16 years he has been a member of the NCS board of directors. His grandparents encouraged Tony to help those in need of support, and they always said to give to others is a gift of life. "Our way of life as Dene has always been about receiving from your Dene community when in need, and giving to those who are in need of help. The word 'community' means common unity. Sharing a common vision is the key to a brighter future. Through our NCS audience in the Northwest Territories, we are working towards connecting all aboriginal people to a common vision," said Rabesca.
As a Dene person, Tony feels it is a priority to promote Aboriginal programming as well as enhance and promote Aboriginal beliefs and values. He says it is a priviledge to serve with the dedicated NCS board members who also support Aboriginal music, culture, language, and the Dene way of life.
While working and living in his home community Tony enjoys hunting on the land, outdoor recreational activities, singing traditional songs with a drum and meeting people. He also enjoys volunteering if the effort is to promote a healthy way of life.
