JC Catholique is from Lutsel K'e and is the longest serving NCS board member at 14 years. JC joined NCS when it was still part of the Indian Brotherhood of the NWT, which later became the Dene Nation.
He started with NCS as a staff member working as a photographer, video technician, and a columnist for the Native Press. He later became a board member. JC was also one of the founding members of the Aboriginal Peoples' Television Network and was their first Chair. Today he sits on the APTN board as a director representing NCS.
JC has seen many changes when it comes to communicating to the people of the NWT, and he has met the many challenges that come with trying to communicate across the vast areas of the North. Despite the many obstacles, he continues to strive to make NCS the best organization to work for and to listen to.
"I believe in the power of communication through media technology to inform and educate the public about aboriginal issues and culture in the north. I am thankful we have an organization like the Native Communications Society to join the communities of the NWT together. Marsi-cho."
